Laurie Thompson

Laurie Thompson is currently serving as the Treasurer of the Warroad School Board. Her term is from 2017-2021. Laurie and her husband, Kevin, and her three children are all alumni of Warroad High School. She has been involved in various aspects of the school district, ranging from starting a PTA in the Elementary School, along with my husband we were very involved in the Swim program working as timers, ran the board and computer at the timing table for 12 years. In 2000,1 was asked to be on the PER committee and am still a seated member. I was asked in 2004 to be on the Policy Committee and currently serve as the Committee Chair. In 2015, Thompson was asked to be on the Facilities Task Force and worked to get the referendum passed for our Early Learners Wing addition to our buildings. She feels that our faculty is one of our greatest strengths. We have hard working, self-sacrificing teachers in our elementary and high schools who want the best for our students. We have fantastic paraprofessionals, custodians, bus drivers, aides, cooks & servers, and office staff who continue to keep the day to day going smoothly for our school. We have a great community that supports our school, faculty, administration, and above all, our students. Our community continues to amaze me at the lengths and depths it will go to help the students, the school and the residents of WHS 690. Thompson states, “ I applaud you all. I look forward as a member of the Board of education to get to know the faculty and staff better. Being able to help set and achieve the goals set forth by the board for the enhancement and betterment of our school, students and community. To keep the momentum moving forward and bring our students the resources and advancements in technology they need to meet and move into their futures. I am very honored to have been elected to this position. I am humbled by your belief in me. Thank you.”
