WARROAD PUBLIC SCHOOLS

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #690

Dear Warroad School District Families:

Warroad students in Grades 3-11 will participate in MCA tests starting in April. MCA’s (Minnesota Comprehensive

Assessments) test whether students have achieved the state standards at their grade level. While these tests are

not mandatory, we encourage all students to participate. The MCA’s are used by ISD #690 for insight on focus areas

for academic instruction and district resources. The Minnesota Department of Education uses MCA results to track

our school’s annual accountability status.

Warroad Schools’ MCA testing schedule and further information can be viewed using the Student Life > Statewide

Testing and Assessment tab on the school website: www.warroad.k12.mn.us

The best preparation for testing is the instruction your child has received throughout the year in his/her classroom.

Through our own assessments, we know that the vast majority of our students have been proficient in learning the

academic content of the standards at their grade level. We are also preparing our students for state testing by

helping them develop test taking strategies and by familiarizing them with the format of the tests.

A few reminders for families before taking the exams:

● Please encourage students to do their best and show what they know!

● Remind students to have a positive attitude! It is key for students to approach MCA’s with confidence.

● Please ensure that your child is well rested and ready to do his/her best work.

● Students are encouraged to utilize personal headsets or earbuds for MCA testing. Please check on the

status of your child’s personal headset as was requested for learning on the school supplies list.

● A healthy meal before testing is important.

● Students should be in school on time each day. Please make this a priority. Report all absences to the

school office. Students absent during testing will make up the test on a later date.

● Cell phones and smart watches are not allowed during testing.

● High school students need to make sure they have their Chromebook with them at school and that it is

fully charged.

If you have any questions about testing, please speak with your child's teacher(s), or contact the Warroad

Elementary office at (218)386-6094 or the Warroad High School office at (218)386-6086.

The mission of the Warroad Public Schools is “Together WE create a future of excellence by providing a learning
