Over the past three years, the school district has been working to hone the education experience in the Warroad Schools to reflect the school board’s mission and vision statement, which was developed after extensive feedback from community and school members in the 2017-18 school year. The mission statement reads:
Together we create a future of excellence by providing a learning community that is personalized, innovative, and secure for all learners.
In the 2018-19 school year, the school board and district admin have worked to review our school’s policies and processes, one area that has begun a time of transformation is the curriculum selection and development process. In this transition, new guiding principles have been drafted to reflect the vision of personalizing and innovating learning experiences for ALL learners. The next step is to convene a curriculum committee who will help keep these guiding principles at the forefront of thought while resources to support learning experiences are chosen. This committee will also help advise the strategic plan of the learning practices in the school district over time. According to our district policy, the committee needs to be comprised of a fair representation of administration, staff, and community members. As a result, the school district is currently looking for volunteers with an interest in serving on the district curriculum committee. Members will be asked to help advise the selection of learning experience materials, programs, and software and participate on subject-area specific sub-committees. This may include sub-committees such as level/content areas (ie: Early Learners, K-2, 3-6, STEM, Humanities), policy vs practice review, and grading practice transition.
