Today was our first Warrior Buddy PBIS morning meet-up of the year. Elementary classes partnered up, listened to the story "Our School Is A Family" by Shannon Olsen, and then working with their new Warrior Buddy students discussed, wrote, and colored about many of the people who make up our school family. 💛🖤 #BestTeamEver

Every Child Matters- Orange Shirt Awareness at Warroad Public School
Our goal is to help spread awareness about the Indian boarding/ residential schools, the truth which has largely been written out of the history books.
This initiative allows us to engage in meaningful discussion about the effects and impacts of these Schools and the traumatic history.
It is an opportunity for Warroad School and Community to learn together and embody the Spirit of a true "Warrior".
On behalf of the Native American Education Program, Warroad Public School staff and students.
We send our sincerest heartfelt condolences, to
Mr. Donald Kakaygeesick and family, on the loss of his brother ❤️
Our hearts and thoughts are with you !
🪶🪶There is no word for goodbye in the Anishnaabemowin language. 🪶🪶

During next week's Homecoming Week 2024, our high school chapter of Minnesota Honor Society is running a cereal donation drive to collect cereal donations for our local food pantry. This is a week long, grade level competition, for a good cause! At the end of the week, the class (6th through 12th grade) that collects the most cereal wins a prize and bragging rights. Students should bring donations to their homeroom.
What is the "Orange Shirt Awareness - Every Child Matters" initiative?
The "Orange Shirt Awareness" shines a light on the history, truth and impact of the US and Canadian Indian/ Residential Boarding Schools. There were 523 total Indian Boarding Schools that operated in the U.S from 1801 to present. With 24 total in the state of Minnesota.
Why wear Orange?
Wearing orange honors and upholds the survivors that have lived and endured the unimaginable and to commemorate the 150,000 plus children that did not make it home. Wearing Orange is a powerful emblem that shows your support and introduces the concept of " Truth and Reconciliation and the path towards healing.
The enduring truth that EVERY CHILD MATTERS.
Busy night for our Warriors!
